No practice Monday- Declare for Blue&White meet- Calling Silent Auction items
This week brought the HEAT and it has been fun getting in the water. Next week we celebrate the Memorial Day holiday with NO Practice on Monday. And on Tuesday we give a huge welcome to Coach Gavin! We shared a picture and message from Coach Gavin on our Instagram page (@swim4lpk). He says:
"I am graduating with a degree in Economics & a Minor in Finance from the College of New Jersey this week. I’m excited to finally be joining Lakepark next week and look forward to the all the practices and meets. I hope to make it a fun summer and one where we can learn a lot too. The other coaches have been doing a great job so far in my absence and between all of us we are going to make it a great summer season at Lakepark."
Blue & White Meet is OPEN
You can check our website or through your Swimtopia app to declare whether your swimmer can come Saturday May 30 morning to the Blue & White meet. We would really like to hear either way if you can come or not so we can have accurate entries in the meet. This is a practice meet with only our swimmers in attendance, a chance for swimmers to go through the motions of a meet. This is also an opportunity for our parent volunteers to practice roles and for coaches to see how swimmers are developing and getting times for entry for the first meet.
We’ll have a large breakfast spread at concessions so come hungry!
Exact timing will be updated soon but last year we had warmups at 8am and finished the whole meet in a couple hours.
Please:
- Declare whether your swimmer can attend or not (only about 1/4 of families have done this so far)
- Sign up for a volunteer role *
- Sign up for a concession item
*email back and we can help you find a role that will fit your family's needs (off your feet, leaving early, need to attend to little kids, etc.)
Silent Auction
Our Silent Auction will be posted at the pool May 25-30, ending at the Blue & White meet. Donations are trickling in and 100% of proceeds go to our swim team budget. There are some super creative donations, thank you! Gift cards to local businesses are always appreciated, too!
We'd love each family to reach out to a business they love, or consider making a donation of their own toward our silent auction. Email Katie with your donation suggestion. [email protected]

Question of the Week
What is a kid pusher at the swim meets?
This volunteer gathers all the boys or girls in the age group (ex: 7-8 boys) to bring to the clerk of course for their event. At our pool it is the area near the diving well. Don't worry, you'll get a list of kids from check-in, including who isn't there that day. The kids will have numbers on their arms, which is helpful because they all look alike in similar suits and goggles. It's a great way to get to know your swimmer's friends and/or be close to your possibly nervous young swimmer the first few meets . You'll keep the swimmers relatively near each other until our clerk of course can get them seated on the benches.
