Meet Information

A typical season consists of our Blue and White meet (held on a Saturday) which is our team time trial, 6 sanctioned meets (3 home and 3 away), and the TSA Championship meet (by coaches invite only).

Meets are on every Tuesday evening. Meets start at 6pm. For home meets, swimmers are asked to arrive at 4:45pm to check in and be ready for warm ups at 5:00pm. For away meets, swimmers are asked to arrive at 5:15pm for 5:30pm warm ups. 11&up swimmers warm up first, so please ensure the older swimmers arrive promptly to check in.

Each meet consists of six events (Medley Relay, Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Freestyle Relay). Each swimming event consists of a main heat and subsequent heats. While only the first/main heat in each event is scored, swimmers in subsequent heats are competing for personal best times. All swimmers depend on a supportive and cheering crowd to swim their best in any heat.

Swimmers will swim in each event but are limited to how many first heat events they can swim in. 6 and under swimmers can be in no more than 2 first heat events while swimmers ages 7 and up can be in no more than 3 first heat events.

Ribbons for 1st-6th place are distributed at a subsequent practice for first heat swimmers. Heat Winner and participant ribbons will be distributed at the actual swim meet, for 8 and under swimmers not in the first heat.

Meet Scoring:

*Swimmers 6 and under may participate in a maximum of 2 first heats.
*Swimmers 7 and up may participate in a maximum of 3 first heats.

To prepare for the regular season swim meets, the following is a list of suggested items to take to each meet:

o Chairs ~ no pool has adequate seating.

o At least two towels ~ one for drying and one for sitting on.

o Warmer clothing ~ sweatshirt, jacket, sweatpants, etc. It can get chilly, especially when you are wet! Lightweight fleece jackets are great.

o Activity books, games, cards, crayons, etc. ~ swimmers have a lot of time between heats to engage in non-fatiguing activities.

o A variety of snacks and drinks ~ most pools will also have concessions, ours always has full concessions including dinner items and snacks.
